Why Choose Liposuction?

When liposuction is an appropriate option:

To put it into perspective, liposuction is not meant to be a substitute for weight loss attainable through nutritional discretion and exercise. But for those people who simply cannot lose localized fat deposits ("localized" meaning anything one could draw a circle or a line around) no matter what they do, microcanula liposuction can provide immediate results and incredible satisfaction.

Some people may understandably be skeptical about the alleged ease, safety, relative lack of pain or bruising or swelling, and rapid healing from reports of those having undergone liposuction recently. But the dramatic difference derives from the local anesthesia tumescent technique (vs. general anesthesia) and from the use of microcanulas (vs. larger and more traumatic canulas). The microcanulas require a little more operative time but the results are well worth it.

The most common areas for liposuction are the abdomen, hips, outer thighs ("saddlebags"), inner thighs, flanks ("love handles"), neck, and even knees and arms. Though men and women usually have typically different areas of fat distribution, the procedures are equally adaptable to both sexes. Total cost, generally between $2000 and $6500, is understandably a function of severity and the number of areas or "zones" to be treated, but is diminished by the fact that the procedures are performed routinely in the office surgical suite under local anesthesia rather than in a hospital operating room under general anesthesia. On the other hand, the liposuction procedures may be performed in a hospital operating room if the patient prefers, but at a slightly higher cost.

The bottom line is that liposuction and body contouring is safe, relatively affordable, nearly painless, minimally disruptive to one's work and social schedules, and incredibly gratifying. It can do for people in a few hours what they have been unable to do for themselves in their entire adult lives.
