What's new in cosmetic surgery? As we're seeing more and more on reality TV and ads in women's magazines and lunchtime conversation and the glut of marketing campaigns for various cosmetic surgery procedures, there's always something "new and exciting" many or most of which are overstated, overrated, riskier or more invasive than you're told about, or just plain bogus.

However the quicklift is for real. It's basically an abbreviated facelift, with significantly less cost (about $3000 less), less swelling, less bruising, less length of incisions, less discomfort and less risk than a traditional facelift but with at least as dramatic results and it's done under local anesthesia in the office operation suites with an anesthetist in attendance to administer supplemental twilight sedation and constantly monitor vital signs, EKG, and blood oxygen levels. So safety is a paramount priority.

Importantly the quicklift is not to be confused with the "minilift" or "S-lift" or "New Age LIft" and any number of other names for procedures which are much less aggressive and consequently much less effective than the quicklift.

The quicklift was innovated by Dr. Dominic Brandy, a prominent Pittsburgh cosmetic surgeon and former associate of Dr. Zipfel. It was then pioneered in the Tristate and Midwest area by Dr. Zipfel who is presently the only cosmetic surgeon in the region performing the quicklift. From his perspective there are very few indications for performing traditional facelift anymore; the quicklift, as an alternative, being so impressive, so safe and so cost-effective.

The quicklift addresses those area of most concern to people with aging face syndrome, specifically the sagging or wrinkling skin of the neck, jowls, smile and marionette lines, and skin of the lower 2/3 of the face and cheeks.

For purposes of comparison, as of this writing, the cost of the basic quicklift is $5700 including the anesthetist and the facility fee, with an additional $700 for liposuction of the neck (generally recommended for about 40% of quicklift patients in order to maximize improvement of the neck-chin-jawline angles).
